Big Robot: Stranger Than Fiction?
Late 2005 a giant killer robot from space landed on Earth with one goal in its artificial mind: destroy all humankind, and maybe see the Grand Canyon if there was time. Lucky for humankind, two intrepid programmers named Pete and Ryan were at a nearby bar contemplating the finer points of malted barley when this momentous occasion occurred. Springing into action, Pete distracted the robot with his best electric can opener impression while Ryan hooked his Powerbook up to the USB port conveniently located on the robot's ankle.
Within minutes, the two had altered the robot's programming and gave it a new goal: to write software for humans. Not just any software, but good software. Software that makes people's lives better. Armed with a 30-story tall robot and too much caffeine, Pete and Ryan set out to make this software available to humans everywhere. They started a company, and the rest is history.
Saving the world and writing software. This what Big Robot is about.
