Searching For Particular Types of Items
You can tell Meta to show you only files of a particular type by using the kind: tag. If you already know what kind of file you're looking for, this can help you reduce the number of results Meta shows you.
For example, if you know that you're looking for an iChat conversation transcript, and it contains the word "chochacho", you could use a search like this:
kind:chat and chochacho
This query would tell Meta to show you files containing the word "chochacho", but only those files that are chats.

Besides the list of file kinds that Meta knows about, Meta's kind: tag can also be used to specify the exact value of the kMDItemContentType and kMDItemContentTypeTree. So for example, you can use a kind: tag to find text files like so: kind:public.text.
