Meta application icon Metadata Item Actions

Once you've run a search and you have some items displayed in the Search Results pane of the Meta Search Window, Meta gives you the ability to perform actions on those items. Actions extend the range of things you can do with your search results, letting you get to a variety of common tasks immediately.

Once you've selected one or more items in the Search Results pane, you can perform an action on it by selecting the action from the Action menu, like this:

Meta Search Window, showing an item selected in the Search Results pane, and showing the mouse accessing the Action menu from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Or, you can right-click (or Control-click) on the item in the Search Results pane:

Meta Search Window, showing the contextual menu that appears when the user right-clicks or Control-clicks on an item in the Search Results pane.

Or you can even right-click (or Control-click) on the item's icon in the Item Details pane:

Meta Search Window, showing the contextual menu that appears when the user right-clicks or Control-clicks on an item's icon in the Item Details pane.

The list of possible actions includes things like showing the item in the Finder, attaching it to a new email message, or even moving it to the Trash.
