Folder Content Tagging |
|
![]() |
Sometimes, you want to tag not just a folder, but all the files in it. But that might mean digging through lots of subfolders and tagging lots of files by hand. In some cases, it may require so much work that it's not worth doing. And where does that leave you with regard to your New Year's resolution to tag all your stuff? Well now TagBot can do it for you. When you tag a folder, TagBot will pop up a dialog asking you if you want to apply the same tag to the folder's contents. Let the TagBot do the work. |
Tagged Item Count |
|

When the tagging is fast and furious, it can help you to know how many files you've tagged with a particular tag. TagBot now displays a tagged file count next to the tag name, so that you can instantly see how many times you've applied it. After all, if you've got 967 files marked as "favorite", they can't all be that special, can they? Maybe it's time to bust out that "pretty_good" tag. |
Improved Keyboard Interaction |
|

Sometimes you just don't want to take your hands off the keyboard to get something done. Maybe it's faster, or maybe it's more convenient, but it just seems like going to the mouse is not what you want to do. Well we've improved TagBot's keyboard interaction, so your hands don't have to leave the keyboard to work with the tag palette. Now, when the tag list is active and you start typing, TagBot will automatically highlight the tag whose name you're typing for you. Furthermore, once you've got your tag or tags highlighted, you can just hit Command-O to open a search for files with those tags. Of course, all the other ways of interacting with TagBot, like good old double-click, still work. This is just another way to get things done. |
Safari Bookmark Tagging |
|

TagBot can now tag your Safari bookmarks. This lets you organize your bookmarks the same way you organize everything else. No longer will you need to pour through your bookmark folders to find that poorly-named site on infrared photography techniques. Just remember that you probably tagged it with photography and awesome. What, you thought Delicious had a patent on bookmark tagging? |
MailTags Integration |
|
![]() |
So you're tagging your files using TagBot, and you're tagging your email messages using MailTags, but you wish you could see your email in the TagBot results window with the rest of your tagged files. Now you can. TagBot tag searches will now find your email messages that were tagged using MailTags. And to make sure everything is as easy as possible, TagBot's "Import Tags" command will now pick up MailTags tags, so you won't have to add them manually. One click, and you're integrated. |
Improved AddressBook Integration |
|
![]() |
AddressBook is a tricky one. It had us fooled before. When you dragged a person or group from AddressBook onto the TagBot tag palette, we were taking the bait and tagging a decoy that Mac OS X would eventually delete, undoing your effort to tag it. Well now we've got it licked. Now we tag the correct metadata cache file, meaning you can go to sleep at night knowing that the tags you applied to your friends in AddressBook will still be there when you wake up tomorrow morning. |
Improved Installation Process |
|
![]() |
We're always looking for ways to make the TagBot experience easier, and more slick. With our last release, we tried a new way of installing the plugin automagically, so that folks wouldn't have to do it by hand. Unfortunately, it just didn't work in all cases, so we've had to tune it up a bit. We've rebuilt the plugin installation process, and now it should be better, faster, stronger than before. |
Improved Unicode Handling |
|
![]() |
We know we said this with the last release, but TagBot's Unicode handling is even better now. Hungarian filenames? Check. Swedish tags in the tag palette? Also check. Chinese tags in the plugin, being used to tag Cyrillic files... on the Moon? We haven't tested it, but we're pretty sure it would work. |
